Sen Kiio Condemns Attempt To Block Kitui MCAs From Assembly

By HON KIIO WAMBUA, Sen Kitui County

OPINION

I condemn in the strongest terms possible the attack on democracy in Kitui town on Thursday December 13, 2018. The attempt to block MCAs from accessing the County Assembly betrays the level to which the executive management of county affairs has sunk.

This day day and this act will go down in history as one of the greatest failures of governance in our county, in our time. In this day and age, it is unthinkable that an elected leader would imagine that a county can be run through command and control.

This simplistic thinking and raw impunity, if not neutered, shall continue to produce the laughable results we see all over the county. And in the final analysis, it is the people of Kitui County who will bear the brunt of mismanagement.

I ask the security team in the county and all elected leaders to move in fast and save our county from the grip of evil schemers and their collaborators whose prime interest is to line their pockets with public finances.

I am doing my part and MCAs must be given their space to do the work for which they were elected. Let all the divergent views on any subject concerning the county find their way to the floor of the assembly for debate and determination.

Cursed is any leader who paid young people to disrupt order within the precincts of the County Assembly of Kitui. I urge the youth of Kitui to refuse to be used by politicians in exchange for tokens.

If any politician wants the youth to run fowl of the law, let that politician put his/his children on the front line to lead the squads. It is a big shame.

Enoch Kiio Wambua,
Senator, Kitui County.
